Project: Bonve chemical grade lobe pumps used to transfer 98% sulfuric acid
A petrochemical company ordered Bonve 4 units LOBE PUMPS to transfer 98% sulfuric acid. 98% sulfuric acid is highly corrosive, pump wetted part material selected is very important. The material should be high corrosion resistance. Duplex SS 2205 is a duplex stainless steel composed of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel-nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance. For this project, Bonve choose Duplex SS 2205 to fabricate all the contact parts of the pump and make sure no corrosion happended.
In addition, seal reliability is also important for high corrosive material. 98% sulfuric acid should not leak to the atmosphere if have seal failure. Bonve use double face water flushing mechnical seal equipped with PLAN53B. With PLAN53B working, it can prevent the product leak into the atmosphere, and more sure a safety operation and no pollution to the environment.
