Milk, as a complex biological fluid, requires precise handling throughout extraction, pasteurization, storage, and packaging. Its unique physical properties—such as shear sensitivity, bacterial vulnerability, and significant viscosity variations—often pose significant technical hurdles for conventional pumping systems within the dairy industry.



Challenges in the Dairy Transportation Industry



1. Extreme Viscosity Variations and Flow Consistency The dairy industry involves a wide spectrum of textures, from water-like raw milk ( to highly viscous Greek yogurt, condensed milk, and cheese curd (up to 100,000+ cP). Conventional centrifugal pumps often experience a sharp drop in efficiency or suffer from cavitation when handling thicker dairy products. This leads to inconsistent flow rates, which negatively impacts the accuracy of downstream filling and dosing equipment. A high-performance positive displacement pump is required to maintain a constant, pulseless flow regardless of viscosity changes.

 

2. Shear Sensitivity and Fat Globule Damage Dairy products, especially cream, sour milk, and yogurt, are highly sensitive to mechanical shear. High-speed agitation from traditional pumps creates turbulence that breaks down delicate fat globules and denatures proteins. This results in fat separation (churning), foaming, and a watery texture, which compromises the dairy's natural "mouthfeel" and premium commercial grade. Our rotors (available in butterfly, tri-lobe, or multi-lobe configurations) are precision-engineered to maintain a pulse-free flow with generous internal clearances. This non-contacting design ensures that the milk or yogurt is moved gently without being "worked" or agitated, effectively preventing fat separation and preserving the natural creaminess and protein structure of the final product.

 

2. Ultra-Hygienic Surface Finish & Material Integrity To eliminate bacterial growth, Bonve pumps are manufactured from high-purity SS316L stainless steel. We utilize state-of-the-art CNC machining and electro-polishing to ensure an internal surface roughness of Ra < 0.8μm (and up to Ra < 0.4μm for high-end requirements). The casing is designed with a "self-draining" geometry that removes all dead zones, ensuring 100% effective sterilization during CIP (Clean-in-Place) and SIP (Steam-in-Place) cycles.

 

3. Specialized Balanced Sealing Systems Recognizing that dairy solids cause seal wear, Bonve offers customized flushed mechanical seals (single or double). These seals utilize SiC, Tungsten Carbide, or Carbon faces and feature a design that prevents lactose and proteins from solidifying on the sealing surfaces. By incorporating a low-pressure water flush, our seals remain cool and clean, ensuring a leak-free operation and dramatically extending the maintenance intervals compared to standard pumps.

 

4. Integrated Thermal Management (Heating Jackets) For products like butter, margarine, or processed cheese that require temperature control to prevent solidification, Bonve pumps can be equipped with integrated heating jackets. By circulating hot water or steam through the pump cover and casing, the system maintains a consistent media temperature, ensuring a smooth, low-torque startup and preventing product crystallization within the pipeline.

1.Rotor:The error of the rotors processed by CNC is extremely small. The unique rotor perfectly seals the inlet and outlet of the pump. The vacuum degree of the pump is up to -0.095MPA. The rotor material and type can be selected according to the characteristics of the pumped product.

 

2.Shaft: The transmission shaft is processed by CNC machining center, which has characteristics of high precision, high bending strength and strong wear resistance.

 

3.Pump cavityThe pump cavity is sealed by a pump cover that can be opened quickly, enabling quick maintenance of the pump. The pump body is processed by CNC machining.

 

4.Gears:High-precision, High-Standard synchronous gears have good meshing, smooth transmission, low noise, and excellent bearing capacity.

 

5.Mechanical seal:The seal material and type are selected according to the characteristices of the pumped product, to ensure zero leakage, no pollution, and more environmental production.

 

6.Bearings: Six bearings arranged in a separate arrangement increase the concentricity of the pump operation, enhance the bearing capacity of the shaft and make the pump running more stable, thereby increasing the service life of the shaft and the mechanical seal.

 

7.Gear boxThe gear box is processed by CNC, with high precision, high concentricity and strong versatility.

 

8.Spindle:We use splines the bearings and spindle, makes the pump less likely to slip. The high-precision spline makes the pump run more smoothly, and the service life is much higher than that of its peers.

 Working Principle  


 

Bonve lobe pumps basically consist of two lobe rotors, which rotate synchronously driven by a pair of synchronous gears in the gearbox. The rotors are driven by the main shaft and sub-shaft to rotate in a synchronous reverse direction, which changes the pump capacity, builds up high vacuum and discharge pressure, thus an efficient pumping is formed. Gap is kept between the rotors and between the pump casing, no friction, long life, no damage, no physical and chemical reaction to the pumped products.
